Leading Woman - Tara Fela Durotoye

Tara is a 40-year-old business entrepreneur in the makeup industry with a law degree from Lagos State University. She is the founder and CEO of House of Tara International – a pioneer makeup service provider in Nigeria which includes a range of beauty products such as the Tara Orekelewa beauty range, Inspired Perfume and the H.I.P beauty range. In 1999, she launched the first bridal directory in Nigeria and in 2004 launched the first makeup school in Nigeria.

Tara Fela Durotoye is a mentor to thousands of young women across Africa, a graduate of the Stanford SEED Transformation Program and was listed as one of 20 Young Power Women in Africa by Forbes in 2013. The World Economic Forum also named her as a Young Global Leader. She is the recipient of several awards including the City People 2006 Award for Excellence in the Beauty Sector and the 1st Lady award for women empowerment amongst others.


The House of Tara International under the leadership of Tara Fela Durotoye has also been honoured with several awards including the Entrepreneur of the Year award and the Africa SME Award in South Africa in 2007. She is currently working on her book, How to Turn Your Hobby into a Thriving Business.

Oluremi Shade Tinubu

Senator Oluremi Shade Tinubu, currently representing Lagos Central in the Senate is 56 years old and was raised in Ogun State. She received a B.Sc. in Education from the University of Ife and a National Certificate of Education in Botany and Zoology from the Adeyemi College of Education. She was introduced to the public scene as First Lady of Lagos State (1999-2007).

Gary and Phil Neville’s Father is Dead

The father of former England football stars Gary and Phil Neville has died today aged 65. Neville Neville flew to Sydney to watch his daughter Tracey, who is manager of the England netball team at the World Cup, but he suffered a heart attack en route.
